Our client a manufacturer of plastic bottles and caps is looking for a PET Plastic Blow Moulding Technician to join their team in Johannesburg, East Rand.
Core Responsibilities
Perform mechanical fault finding and repairs on production equipment
Maintain and repair:
- Injection moulding machines
- Blow moulding machines
Work on: Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Assist with:
- Mould changes and setups
- Basic mould maintenance
- Carry out preventive maintenance (inspection, lubrication, part replacement)
- Respond to breakdowns and minimise downtime
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and suggest improvements
Minimum Requirements- Trade-tested Fitter & Turner or equivalent experience
- Plastics / blow moulding / injection moulding industry experience will secure
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of: Hydraulics and Pneumatics
- Comfortable using workshop tools and measuring equipment
Bonus RequirementPlastics manufacturing: Injection moulding and Blow moulding
Equipment & SystemsExperience with VSDs (Variable Speed Drives)
Exposure to:
- Compressors, chillers, conveyors
- Continuous production environments
Tooling & Toolmaking- Toolmaking or mould repair experience
- Ability to work with tight tolerances and precision components
Electrical & multi-SkillingBasic electrical capability, including:
- Installing or wiring VSDs
- Running and terminating cables
- Reading basic electrical diagrams
- Basic electrical fault finding
- Experience with motors and control components
PLC / Controls- Basic PLC exposure (fault finding, not programming)
- Ability to identify control or signal issues
