COMMERCIAL LEGAL COUNSEL / SENIOR COMMERCIAL PARALEGAL
Take ownership of a diverse commercial legal portfolio within a dynamic and growing financial services group, which seeks an experienced, commercially astute and highly organised Commercial Legal Counsel / Senior Commercial Paralegal to join its team in Umhlanga.
This is a broad, hands-on position for an experienced legal professional who is comfortable taking ownership of commercial, corporate, governance and legal administration matters within a fast-paced business environment.
The role offers exposure across:
- Commercial agreements,
- Corporate transactions and structuring,
- Company secretarial and governance matters,
- Trusts and estates,
- Compliance , and
- General commercial legal support.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of legal and commercial matters, including:
- Drafting, reviewing and managing commercial agreements and legal documentation
- Managing company secretarial and CIPC-related administration and filings
- Preparing and reviewing resolutions, agreements and supporting corporate documentation
- Providing legal support on corporate transactions, due diligence and governance matters
- Managing matters relating to trusts, wills and deceased estates, including Master's Office administration
- Providing practical legal and commercial support to stakeholders across the Group
- Liaising with clients, professional advisers, service providers, regulators and government offices
- Attending to matters at the Master's Office and engaging with other external stakeholders as required
- Supporting the Group's broader legal, governance, compliance and corporate administration requirements
- Ensuring legal documentation and administrative processes are handled accurately, efficiently and within required timeframes
Qualifications & Experience
Experienced commercial legal professional who can operate with a good degree of independence and sound judgement.
An LLB degree is preferred, although candidates with strong and relevant practical commercial legal experience may also be considered.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in a number of the following areas:
- Commercial legal practice or an in-house legal environment
- Drafting and reviewing commercial agreements
- CIPC and company secretarial matters
- Corporate governance and legal administration
- Corporate transactions and due diligence
- Trusts, wills and/or deceased estate administration
- Working with professional advisers, regulators and government bodies
A valid driver's licence and own vehicle are essential.
