Our client, a major Iron Ore mining company is looking for a Planner to join their team in the Northern Cape on a 12-month renewable contract.
The Planner is responsible for the development and management of the schedule for medium and large size projects.
Responsibilities include but will not be limited too
- Development of the master schedule plan for each project in their area of responsibility under the Area Project Manager's (APM) portfolio for the various phase of the project, including a basis of schedule prior to submitting the project for approval in the study phase.
- Development and updating to the individual project schedules in the various phases of the project, monthly as a minimum, this will include maintaining alignment of all service provider's schedules.
- Engage on regular site verification walks to ensure schedule progress is precise and accurate as indicated in the individual project schedules in their areas of responsibility.
- Development and updating of monthly schedule reports for the individual projects in their responsible APM's portfolio and submitting it monthly to APM and Planning & Scheduling lead.
- Update the consolidated planning and scheduling report (Master Schedule Data) on a weekly or as information changes to ensure report remains up to date with the most accurate information.
- Integration with the Cost Engineer and their cost management plan.
- Monitoring all associated detailed schedules, providing accurate reports on progress, variance to plan, root causes and remedial actions.
- Monitoring the greater project and operational environment in which the project operates to ensure we identify all potential risks to the schedule.
- Participate in weekly safety engagements and visible felt leadership (VFL) engagements as prescribed by the safety department to ensure they meet their monthly targets.
- Participate in mandatory organizational training courses and annual site induction.
Requirements:
- Diploma in relevant field.
- Qualification in Project Management / Planning.
- Driver's License.
- Knowledge of mining and related operations environments.
- Knowledge of Geology, Mining, Metallurgy and Engineering areas.
- 5 - 8 years' experience in the following:
- Construction/Engineering Project Management Environment.
- Construction Management Experience.
- General Management experience.
- Contractor Management.
- Demonstrate proficiency in MS Office Suite (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
