GENERAL MANAGER: MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
A leading cultural and performing arts institution is seeking an exceptional General Manager: Marketing & Communications to drive strategic growth, elevate brand presence, and expand audience reach across multiple theatre platforms. Role Purpose:
This executive role is responsible for providing strategic leadership across marketing, communications, brand positioning, and audience development. You will play a pivotal role in growing audiences, increasing revenue streams, and strengthening stakeholder relationships while positioning the organisation as a premier cultural destination.
What You'll Lead:
- Develop and execute innovative marketing and communications strategies
- Drive ticket sales growth, audience expansion, and brand visibility
- Lead impactful multi-channel campaigns, including digital and social media
- Oversee compelling content creation and storytelling
- Strengthen relationships with media, sponsors, government, and key partners
- Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on brand and reputation management
- Champion audience development initiatives, including youth and community outreach
- Lead and inspire a high-performing marketing and communications team
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (NQF 7)
- 10+ years' experience in marketing and communications, ideally within arts, entertainment, or events
- 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven success in growing audiences and increasing revenue
- Strong experience in: Campaign management, Brand development, Digital marketing & content strategy, Stakeholder engagement
- Deep understanding of audience behaviour and evolving theatre trends
- Exceptional communication, storytelling, and presentation skills
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing diverse teams
