Our client in the mining sector is recruiting an experienced Deputy Site Manager to support a large-scale mining and mineral processing project based internationally. The role focuses on overseeing site operations, ensuring construction compliance, and coordinating between contractors and project leadership across the construction and mechanical completion phases.
The successful candidate will form part of the Owner's Engineering Team and work closely with the EPC contractor and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day oversight of site labor force and subcontractors to ensure safe work practices and adherence to specifications.
- Assist contractors in planning work and organizing site facilities to meet safety standards and project deadlines.
- Ensure construction compliance with project standards, specifications, and approved method statements.
- Review contractor procedures and ensure latest approved revisions of drawings are used on site.
- Manage technical queries, modifications, and site instructions with contractor engineering teams.
- Conduct field inspections (70% field / 30% office) and perform site surveillance as per the site surveillance plan.
- Participate in pre-mechanical completion meetings and mechanical completion walkdowns.
- Oversee the selection and requisition of materials to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
- Monitor manufacturing record books, redline markups, and as-built surveys.
- Manage HSE performance during daily site walks and escalate issues as required.
- Prepare reports and support the Site Manager in interpreting contract design documents.
Requirements
- Engineering degree (PMP or similar qualification is an asset).
- Minimum15 years of experience in infrastructure projects, with 8 years in a senior position.
- International assignment experience, preferably in Africa.
- Strong understanding of construction compliance, quality assurance, and site coordination.
- Experience managing multicultural teams.
- Good spoken and written English (Mandarin is an asset).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience working on large mining or heavy industrial facilities.
- Experience with mechanical completion processes and site surveillance.
- Exposure to EPCM or large engineering project environments.
